Why Intimate Weddings Hit Different

You don’t need 200 guests to make something meaningful.
Some of the most powerful weddings I’ve captured had:
- 40 guests.
- No bridal party.
- A ceremony in the garden.
- A reception that felt like a dinner party.
No big production.
No rigid traditions.
No pressure to perform.
Just connection.
When the guest list is intentional, the day slows down.
You hug people properly.
You have real conversations.
You actually eat your meal.

And from a photography perspective?
Intimate weddings allow for depth.
More candids.
More in-between moments.
More time to create portraits that feel natural, not rushed.
There’s less noise.
Which means the emotion gets louder.
So if you’re worried that a smaller wedding will feel “less than” — don’t be.
Sometimes stripping it back is exactly what makes it timeless.
And timeless doesn’t have to look like everyone else.
